About the events
Two Sided Story
In the film, Emmy award director, Tor Ben Mayor follows a group of 27 Palestinians and Israelis who meet under the frame of a unique project called “History through the Human Eye” led by Parents Circle-Families Forum – bereaved Palestinian and Israelis for Peace and Reconciliation.
The project’s goal is to acknowledge the narrative of the other. Together they create the conflict mosaic. Among them include Bereaved families, Orthodox Jews and religious Muslims, settlers, ex soldiers in the Israeli army, ex security prisoners, citizens of the Gaza strip, kibbutz members, second generation holocaust survivors, non violent activists and more. Each and every one holds his own historical truth, and carries with him his own emotional baggage.
Processes used to create a psychological breakthrough
Bassam Aramin lost his 10-year-old daughter Abir in 2007 when she was shot in front of her school. He had struggled against the Israeli occupation since he was 13 years old and spent 7 years in Israeli jails. He now devotes his time to the pursuit of Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation and a non-violent end to the occupation.
Robi Damelin’s son David was shot by a Palestinian sniper in 2002. David was studying for an MA in the philosophy of education at Tel Aviv University and was an active member of the peace movement. Since 2003, Robi has been making use of her personal pain for reconciliation rather than revenge.
Robi and Bassam will be sharing their experience in engaging with processes used to create a breakthrough in this seemingly impossible situation.
