About the topic

After the second world war, 6 iconic films were made by James and Joyce Robertson, colleagues of John Bowlby at the Tavistock Clinic. These films persuaded policymakers and (eventually) doctors of the serious harm done to very small children by placing them in institutional care.

In the early years of this century, 2 British NGOs, HealthProm and Partnership for Every Child, worked with The Early Intervention Institute in St Petersburg to introduce an understanding of attachment, and the importance of growing up in a family, to people working or with an interest in the institutional care system in Russia.

Producer and director Armorer Wason will show and discuss the making of The Road Home, filmed over a year in a ‘baby house’ for 0 to 3 year olds in the Urals, and the responses of Russian audiences to it.

About our Pluralogues

For those new to this event, the Pluralogue is a space where we get together to both learn and socialise, meet some new colleagues and find out what others are up to.

The term ‘Pluralogue’ was coined by Doron many years ago, to depict moving beyond monologue to dialogue: to pluralogue (the conversation of many). We hope to learn together and from each other in the form of a learning community in a friendly atmosphere.

The added bonus is that we structure it as a CPD event so you will be able to count it as CPD hours (a CPD certificate will be provided as well).
